The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 passed by the Parliament of India on 11 December 2019. It amended the Citizenship Act of 1955 by providing a path to Indian citizenship for illegal migrants of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi, and Christian 'the religious minorities' from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who had fled their country because of religious persecution from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, who came to INDIA on or before 31st of December 2014.[3] Muslims from those countries were not given such eligibility because all these three countries are either Muslims majority or they are Islamic Republic..
