matter can be classified according to the physical and chemical properties. matter is anyyhing which occupies space and have mass. the three states of matter is solid, liquid, gas ... pure substances can be either chemical compounds and elements..
Hope this will help u....
Matter: matter is anything which carry mass and occupy space.
there are three types of matter
1) solid
2) liquid
3) gas
properties of solid
1) a solid has a fixed volume and a definite shape.
2) solid are rigid and almost incompressible.solid generally possess high density.
3)solid don't exhibit diffusion.
4) in solid intermolecular force of attraction is stronger.
properties of liquid
1) liquid possess a definite volume but no definite shape.
2) liquid are almost incompressible but not rigid infact liquids can flow from higher to lower level which means that liquids have a property of fluidity and acquire the shape of the container in which yhey are.
3) liquids also have high densities but less than that of solid.
4) in liquid intermolecular forces of attraction are weaker than solids.
properties of gas
1) A gas has either definite volume nor definite shape it acquire the shapes and volume of the container.
2) Gases are highly compressible
3) the gases exhibit the property of diffusion very fast into other gases
4) gases have very low densities as compared to solids and liquids
