The color of anhydrous copper(II) sulphate is white when we remove the water of crystallization from hydrated copper(II) sulphate by heating . Condensing the vapor produced in a second test-tube which collects the water, the white anhydrous copper(II) sulphate is then re-hydrated and the blue color returns.
