Sodium chloride is also called salt or table salt and is classified as an ionic compound and has a chemical formula of NaCl.

A white crystalline solid consisting mainly of sodium chloride (NaCl) common salt binary compound.

Sodium chloride does not act as either an acid or a base. A solution of it is neutral (pH = 7).

Sodium chloride, found abundantly in nature, occurs in seawater, other saline waters or brines, and in dry rock salt deposits.
It can be obtained by mining and evaporating water
