What is the colour change in the lime water present in the small test tube?why?

The limewater test (CaO, lime, dissolved in water) is a classical testfor the presence of carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide gas as it is bubbled through the limewater will react and form insoluble calcium carbonate and water. Hence the milky white color of the floating precipitate.
