what is the colour of a solution formed on dipping a piece of zinc in dilute sulphuric acid?

It should be colourless if both the metal and the acid are pure. If the zinc contains traces of transition metals that produce coloured ions then the colour of the sulphate of the impurity metal manifests itself,
