Hey Buddy !☺

– Colour of Ferrous Sulphate crystals is Green.
– After heating the colour of Ferrous sulphate crystals changes first to white then to dark brown.
– The product formed on heating Ferrous Sulphate crystals first is anhydrous Ferrous Sulphate [FeSO4] then changes to Ferric Oxide [Fe2O3].
– The type of chemIcal reaction that occurs in this change is -“Dehydration Reaction”.

↪Actually welocme to the concept of the WATER OF CRYSTALLIZATION...!!

↪1) Due to the presence of the water of the crystallization m the colour of the Ferrous sulpahte crystals are greenish (aqua) in colour. .

↪2) When the Ferrous sulphate crystals are heated , at first the water of crystallization gets evaporated and the colour if the compound changes from Greenish to Reddish brown due to the loss of the water molecules

↪3) When its further heated strongly, the Ferrous sulphate compound releases the Sulpherdioxide gas which is volatile in nature and the compound remaining is the Dark brown FERROUS OXIDE

↪4) The chemical occurring here is the DEHYDRATION REACTION that means removal of the water molecules from a crystallized compound

〽FeSO4.7H2O -------(heat/enthalpy)-----》 FeSO4 + 7H2O

〽FeSO4 ---------(strong heating / roasting ) ---------》 FeO + SO2
