FeSo4.7H2O crystals have green colour.

The colour changes because decomposition reaction took place.

2FeSo4(s)(on heating)-fe2o3+so2+so3

Hydrated ferrous sulphate crystals are green in colour.

Upon heating it the water of crystallisation separates out and we get anyhydrous ferrous sulphate which is white in colour.

FeSO4.7H2O ⇒ (Δ) FeSO4 + 7H2O

Colour changes from green to white.

On heating anhydrous copper sulphate further we will get.

2FeSO4 ⇒ Fe2O3 + SO2 + SO3

We get ferric oxide , sulphur dioxide and sulphur trioxide.

Ferric oxide is reddish brown in colour.
