What is the colour of residue when crystals of sugar are heated in a hard class test tube

Answer:

The ferrous sulphate crystals are light green in colour. The gas emitted has the characteristic odour of burning sulphur. On heating, the colour changes from light green to white. If it is heated further, the white substance changes its colour to dark brown solid.
