hey ur ans is here..........Bryophytes are commonly called as ‘Amphibians of plant kingdom’. They have adapted themselves to terrestrial habitat but are still dependent on water to complete their life cycle. They bear jacketed sex organs I.e antheridium (male) and archegonium (female) which contain antherozoids or sperms and egg or ovum respectively. The opening of antheridia to release sperms and opening of archegonia for entery of sperms to reach eggs is dependent on the availability of water. Water is also needed for the movement of sperms towards eggs contained in archegonia to affect Fertilisation.
