To Take out  the component of a vector along another vector we use dot product (.) .
A.B = ABcosθ
Bcos  θ = Component of Vector B Along The Vector with which it makes an angle θ  =\frac{A.B}{A}
On Solving.
 \frac{7}{ \sqrt{2} }

Answer:

7/root2

Explanation:

component of vector a on vector b is given by

component of a=a.b/|b|

a.b. = (3i+4j).(i+j)

       =3+4=7

|b| = root(1+1)

      =root(2).
