Composition of biogas:

  • Biogas is mainly composed of methane (CH_4), carbon dioxide (CO_2) and nitrogen (N_2), Hydrogen (H_2), and carbon monoxide (CO) in small quantities. It is a mixture of gases which is produced by the microbial activity.
  • It can be used as fuel. However, the type of gas produced depends on the microbes and organic substances they use. Since dung can also be used for the generation of biogas, it is commonly called gobar gas.
