blood is a fluid connective tissue ...
it is red sticky, and viscous fluid flowing in blood vessels....
It forms 6 - 10 percent of total body weight..
adult human contains approximately 5 - 6 litre of blood...
blood is composed of two parts 1) blood plasma. 2) blood corpuscles
Blood plasma :
the liquid part of the body is called plasma it is slightly alkaline and straw coloured liquid which constitutes approximately 60% of blood volume it is composed of 90% water and 10% proteins and other material the important component are Plasma proteins, nutrients, excretory products, salts , gases , hormone, and heparin...
Blood corpuscles: blood corpuscles are of three types:
1) Red blood corpuscles ( RBCs)
2) White blood corpuscles ( WBCs)
3) Platelets
red blood cells :
RBC are most abundant cells in the human body. these are spherical, biconcave cell without nucleus. they contain respiratory pigment haemoglobin which imparts red colour to the blood....
White blood cells:
WBC are colourless cells which are larger than RBC they are nucleated cells which can change their shape the number is less than RBC ( 4,000-11,000 per millimetre cube in adult )... lifespan of WBC is 12 hours to several days..
Platelets :
these are small sized , non - nucleated, cellular fragments of various shapes and are commonly called thrombocytes... these are quite small , appear round or oval, disc- shaped or irregular in outline....
