Given:
the concentration of NaCl - M₁ = 0.2mol dm³
Volume - V₁ = 10cm³
Concentration of NaCl solution added = 0.6 mol dm³
Volume - V₂ = 30cm³
To Find: The concentration of mixed NaCl solution -M =?
Solution:
Formula used:
- M₁V₁ = M₂V₂
- MV = M₁V₁ + M₂V₂
Total volume of the mixed solution formed - V = V₁ + V₂
= 10 + 30
= 40 cm³
Applying the above formula:
MV = M₁V₁ + M₂V₂
M × 40 = 0.2 × 10 + 0.6 × 30
M × 40 = 2 + 18
M = 20/40
M = 1/2
M = 0.5 mol dm³
Hence, the concentration of NaCl solution formed = 0.5 mol dm³.
