we do rectifications of errors when we commit any error in financial reporting by passing wrong unintentionally Journal Entry.

i.e, We purchased A Plant and we debited it to Machinery Account. Although we have debit it to assets. but it has been recorded in the wrong books of accounts, leading overstating the machinery balance and understating the plant balance . so then we pass Rectifying entry to correct any misstatement that we have done in our books of accounts.  and so the can be presented fairly and give true and fair view.
