At the end of the story "The Canterville Ghost," the ghost of Sir Simon was able to attain salvation. Virginia's purity and gentle behavior helped him in attaining peace. the skeleton of Sir Simon was given a burial right. The Otis and the Canterville gave farewell to the ghost by giving it the burial rights. The skeleton of the ghost was buried in the local graveyard. Virginia was married to the Duke. They visited the grave of Sir Simon where the Duke wanted to know about Virginia and the ghost's conversation. The story ended with Virginia's remark that she will keep this a secret forever.
