Hey There....!!

For work done to be negative the angle between the applied force and displacement must be 180°. The force applied must oppose the motion of the body.

when the value of cosA is negative ,the work done will be negative....

in detail: when the component of the applied force is in the direction of the applied force the work is said to be positive and when the component of the applied force is opposite to the direction of the displacement then the work done is negative....
