The conflict in the poem is author's rational thought about snakes. He loves the snake but here he was saying about the behavior of others' that they treat snakes.

It's about the conflict between the emotional and rational feelings of the poet. As his heart says that the snake is and the snake is only drinking water and will leave after drinking but his voice of education tells him that the snake is a harmful creature and can harm him.
