What is the connection between the beginning and ending of the story?

Answer:
Clark Blaise says that the opening of a short story always imply its opposite.
We cannot start to tell stories about ourselves until we have the clarity that comes with knowing the ending. Often this is the reason writers get stuck in the middle of a story, not knowing where to go next. There are so many ways to create an ending point for writing: some writers write for time. I often think of this evolution as a whale-tail of 180-degree change. One thing that I do, when trying to pin down my ending and beginning, is to list ten values change in a given piece of writing, then list their opposites.
Figuring out how to properly link your beginning and ending takes a little forethought, but once you’ve identified your main story question, you’ll not only know what your story is about, you’ll also be able to strengthen your plot, your theme, and your character development all the way through the book.
