Continental drift is the movement of the Earth's continents relative to each other, thus appearing to "drift" across the ocean bed. The speculation that continents might have 'drifted' was first put forward by Abraham Ortelius in 1596

Hope it helps

Hello Mortals,

CONTENTIAL DRIFT :-

It means the movement of earth's continent by the respect of each other. Every year each continent moves somewhat away from each other ( due to drfting of ocenic bed).

So, this movement is termed as Continental drift.

Thanks
