Albert Freeman Africanus King botn on 18 January 1841,  was an American physician born in England who saw Abraham Lincoln's assassination on April 14, 1865. During the assassination, he was pushed into action as a bystander physician.

During the American Civil War, he was one of just a few physicians who served in both the Confederate States Army and the United States Army. Furthermore, King was among the first to suggest a link between mosquitos and malaria.

In 1883 and 1903, King was elected President of the Medical Society of Washington, D.C. He received an honorary master's degree from the University of Vermont in 1883.
