The contribution of pulses in Indian agriculture is immense. They constitute around 7-10 percent of the total ‘food grain production’ in the country.

EXPLANATION:

Pulses are grown in almost 20% of the total area under food grain cultivation. They are grown both in the Kharif and the Rabi seasons though ‘Rabi pulses’ contribute more than ‘60 percent of the total production’.

India is the ‘largest producer’ of pulses in the world. She produces approximately 25% of the total global production and consumes 27% of the total world consumption. Thus the ‘contribution of pulses’ to Indian agriculture is immense.
