✔️It secretes progesterone hormone during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle.

✔️A high level of progesterone inhibits the secretions of FSH and LH, thereby preventing ovulation.

✔️It also allows the endometrium of the uterus to proliferate and to prepare itself for implantation.
