• Direction of friction is always tangential to surface.

There are 3 types of friction

1.) STATIC FRICTION (fs)

• It is act when there is no relative motion between contact surface or body is at rest.
• Magnitude and direction of static friction is self adjusting.

2.) LIMITING FRICTION (fl)

• Minimum force required to slide the body.
• Maximum value of static friction.

3.) KINETIC / SLIDING FRICTION (fk)

• There is relative motion between contact surface of body is in the motion.
