In a structure of a compound, if the carbon is attached to another positively charged carbon (in case of carbocation's ===> carbon carrying positive charge) , then that carbon is known as $\alpha - carbon$ (alpha carbon) .

Whereas, the hydrogen attached to that $\alpha- carbon$ is known as $\alpha - hydrogen$.

Now, to find the no.of hyper conjugated structures,

We should add 1 (+1) to the no.of  $\alpha -hydrogen's$

Example: no.of alpha hydrogen's = 3

                Then no.of hyper conjugated structures = 4
