growth?
Answers
Answer:
Explanation:
The primary reason of poverty is low productivity of the poor people, which arises from lack of work and employment along with lack of infrastructure and equipments. To integrate poor with the growth process, poverty reduction and employment generation are the two major keys. Two types of steps have been taken to remove poverty
General growth: Government is shaping policies in a way to improve condition of poor. For example expansion of agriculture and non-farm activities in rural areas, adoption of labour intensive techniques, enlarge production of food grains and other items of necessities. All these lead to development of industry which further helps in removal of poverty.
Supplementary measures: This include anti-poverty programmes like National rural employment guarantee act, integrated rural development programme, rural landless employment guarantee programme etc. These programmes have two aims
1. Provide direct employment for wage in cash or kind.
2. Enabling people to earn by providing them assets, credit and skills marketing facility. Another thing that government is doing is providing cheap food to poor through public distribution system.
Along with all these measures, the ultimate solution lies in desigining a framework that facilitates expansion of economy and dynamic agriculture sector.
