R1 and R2 are connected in parallel so equivalent resistance is

1/R = 1/R1+1/R2

1/R = 1/12+1/4

1/R = 1+3/12

1/R = 1/3

R = 3ohm

now current,

v = iR

12 = i×3

12/3 = i

4A = i
