The breakdown of lining of uterus due to the absence of sperm for fertilization is termed as Menstruation and the repeated sequence of this process is termed as Menstrual cycle.
This cycle repeats after every 21 to 28 days

The first occurrence of menstrual cycle is termed as Menarche
