When the stigma becomes receptive, pollination is carried out using the desired pollen and the flower rebagged. Following double fertilisation, events of endosperm and embryo development, maturation of ovule(s) into seed(s) and ovary into fruit, are collectively termed post-fertilisation events.

(a) Example of unisexual flower is coconut and that of bisexual is Sunflower.

(b) The event of double fertilization and subsequent growth and development results in the development of ovule into the seed. Each seed contains a young plant embryo and nutritive tissue (the endosperm), both of which are surrounded by a protective seed coat (derived from integument). During development of seed from an ovule following fertilization, the ovary wall surrounding it enlarges and develops into a fruit wall while ovary makes fruit. Sepal, petals, and stamen fall off.

(c) The process of meiosis reduces DNA amount to half in gametes which is then restored to original content during fertilization.
