Multiplier = 1.017

Given:

Number increased by 1.7%

To find:

The decimal multiplier to increase by 1.7%

Explanation:

We know that 1.7% = \frac{1.7}{100} = 0.017

Suppose we can increase "A" by 1.7%

So the final value = A + 1.7% × A

    the final value = A + 0.017 × A

That is the final value = 1.017 × A

In the similar way if we increase the value by 70% then simply multiply the number by 1.7

For example: 266 is  increase by 1.7%

Final value = 1.017 × 266 = 270.522
