(x + 1)(x + 2)

 {x}^{2} + 2x + x + 2

 {x}^{2} + 3x + 2 = 0

the degree of the polynomial is the highest power of the polynomial. Therefore in this polynomial the degree is 2.

2 is the degree of the above polynomial.

(x + 1) (x + 2)

x^2 +2x + x +2

x^2 +3x + 2

degree is 2, as it's the highest power.

Hope this helps you.
