The force applied on an object can be described by its magnitude and direction.
The total force applied on an object is called the net force. If two or more individuals are applying force from the same direction, then the net force will be the sum of the forces and if two or more individuals are applying force from different directions, then the net force will be the difference of the forces. Thus, it can be conclude that the net force should be more than 0 to make an object move.
The forces can be classified into two types:-
- Contact forces- Forces that act on objects by coming in contact with them are called Contact forces. Examples- Frictional force, Muscular force etc.
- Non Contact forces- Forces that act on objects without coming in contact with them are called Non Contact forces. Examples- Gravitational force, Magnetic force, Electrostatic force etc.
