What is the definition of non farm activities with examples

The rural non-farm economy (RNFE) may be defined as comprising all those activities associated with waged work or self-employment in income generating activities (including income in-kind) that are not agricultural but which generate income (including remittances etc.) rural areas.

Examples of Non- Farm activities:

1. Dairy farming, small-scale farming, small scale

manufacturing, Shop keeping exchange of goods on a

large scale and transportation of goods and people.

2. Diary Jowar and Bajra grows during rainy season are fed

to the buffaloes. The milk from the buffaloes is sold in

nearby villages, from where they are transported and sold

to distant towns and cities.

3. Small scale manufacturing: Involves simple production

techniques. Done at home or in the fields with the help of

families.

4. Shopkeepers: Villagers buy goods from wholesales

markets in cities and sell them in their villages Goods like

wheat, rice, sugar etc. Are sold. Families whose houses

are close to the bus stand have used a part of space to

open small shops.

5. Transport: People with rickshaws, tongas, tractors trucks,

bullock carts are ones in the transport service and they

transport goods and people to different places in return for

money.
