The presence in water of harmful or objectionable material in sufficient quantityto measurably degrade water quality.
USAGE EXAMPLES
1. The river used to be the main water source in the area but the water pollution, caused by the old factory dumping waste in the river, caused the water to be unsafe for drinking and even swimming.
2. Unfortunately there was water pollution so I only felt safe drinking from a water filter after I saw the contamination.
3. The water pollution from the oil rig disaster was very apparent as oil began to reach the shore after only 5 days from the date it happened.
