What is the defnining question of the mahabharat?
Answers
Answer:
Mahabharata is one of the two Ithihasas (accounts of history) that is revered by Hindus. It is also the longest poem known to man. It's size is ten times that of Iliad and odyssey put together.
Originally titled Jaya, the Mahabharata is said to be composed by Veda Vaada. It is said that ‘if there was to be a fifth Veda, it would be the Mahabharata’ [Bharatam panchamo Vedah].
It is regarded as the historic record of events that took place before, during and after the epic 18 days war at Kurukshetra.
The Ithihasa has gifted us with some of the most sacred treasures of the Hindu faith including the Bhagavat Geeta and the unparalleled Vishnu Sahasranamam.
The story features innumerable heroes and heroines and villains. No one character is all white or all black. Everyone is realistically and relatably grey!
It talks about science, romance, medicine, space travel, warfare, weapons, morals, laws, politics etc etc etc in great detail.
The story has, like a storm, picked up the local flavour of all the places and times that the bards narrating it travelled. And that makes Mahabharata a living legend.
