Given :  a solid of mass 8 g, which when immersed in water filled in measuring cylinder, raises its level by 2 mL

To Find :  density of  solid

Solution:

Water level raised by 2 mL

Hence Volume of solid = 2 mL

1 mL = 1 cm³

=> Volume of sold = 2 cm³

Mass of solid = 8 g

Density = Mass / Volume

=> Density of Solid  = 8 /2  = 4 g/cm³

density of  solid  is 4 g/cm³

Explanation:

It is important to understand that the volume of the solid piece will be equal to the volume of liquid it has displaced when placed inside a container. Now we are given the that the water level is raised by 2ml, so the volume displaced is 2 cm3 of water

Formula for density calculation;

Density = mass / volume

Density = 8 / 2

Density of solid = 4 g/cm3
