Microscope is the dependent variable in onion cell and cheek cell experiment

Explanation:

  • A thin layer of the onion and cheek cells is placed in the glass slide separately and covered with a coverslip. The layer of the onion cells and cheek cells  can be stained with coloring dye.
  • Then onion cells are viewed under the microscope and identified as plant cells. Cell walls, small nuclei, and large vacuoles are observed in onion cells while visualizing through a microscope.
  • Cheek cells are viewed through the microscope and are identified as animal cells. In cheek cells, cell walls are not present and have a large nucleus, small vacuoles.
  • Here, the microscope is the dependent variable. The variable that is measured or observed is called the dependent variable. Only through the microscope, parts of plant cells and animal cells observed and identified. Therefore, the microscope is the dependent variable in this experiment
