Evolution is when the whole population slowly acquires/leaves traits. Example the whole human species lost its tail in the course of evolution.Its a really slow but consistent process.

the only difference between variation and evolution is that
- the sequence of gradual change which take place in the organism over millions of years leading to the formation of a new species is called Evolution.
- The difference in the characters among the individual of the same species causes variation during sexual reproduction.
