A customer is anyone who is purchasing an item. We do not know what they will do with what they have bought. They could further sell it or consume it. A consumer is a person who has bought an item and has consumed it (as suggested by the name).

amayadoggy: Also, a customer buys products from businesses, while a consumer uses the business products.

A customer is a person or party who purchases products but consumer is a person who uses them sometimes, a customer also can be a consumer and sometimes a constumer purchases products but the person who use them will be the consumer of the product for example : -
A shopkeeper buys his products from a whole sale mart and sell them at a small town where people buy them ad use them, so the shopkeeper will be the customer of the mart and the consumer and customer of the product will be town's people as they buy and also use it so, that's the main difference.
Hope this helps : )
