the main difference of these images is of dimensions......

The term 2D stands for Two-Dimensional, whereas 3D stands for Three-Dimensional.

in mathematics 2d means =two axis i.e., x and y axis

3d =x, y ,and z axis

2D is 2 dimensional images and 3D is 3 dimensional images. 2D is flat and when it is turned to the side it is just a line. 3D has width depth and height. , it allows items that appeared flat to the human eye to be display in a form that allows for various dimensions to be represented.
