2N means two molecules of Nitrogen atom. N2 means two atoms of nitrogen in its one molecules. ... N2shows that two nitrogen are bonded with covalent bond, and it becomenitrogen gas whereas 2N does not show any bond, it just show two number of nitrogen.

2N means the two Nitrogen atoms in uncombined stat, these two Nitrogen atoms undergoes chemical reaction and combines to form N₂ molecule. 2N represents two atoms of nitrogen whereas N2 represents one molecule of nitrogen gas.
