A = 5 gms means the quantity A is measured with an instrument or scale having a least count of 1gm.
A = 5.0 gm means the scale of weighing machine is calibrated much better. It has a least count of 0.1 gm. It's accuracy is better.
If there is a mistake in measurement then using the first method/scale, we could get 4 gm or 6 gm. But with second measurement we could get 5.1 or 4.9 gm.
Thus the accuracy of measurement is different.
