The crown of the tree is the tipmost part of the tre i.e the topmost green leaves, whereas the canopy layer is the uppermost part of the tree.

The canopy layer is mostly found in forests.

Crown of a tree:

It is the top part of the tree which includes the branches, leaves in itself. These may vary place to place which could have been adapted for a different purpose.

Canopy:

It refers to the upper layer formed by mature tree crowns and some other living organisms. This layer is responsible for the Tyndall effect in the forests.

Thanks!
