1) Fixed plant's roots are permanently fixed in the hard soil, from where it soaks necessary nutrients and water. 2) Floating plant's roots are loosely situated in the liquid substance, from where it soaks water and other nutrient requirements

Answer:

A water plant that floats on the surface of water is called a floating plant whereas the water plant that is fixed in the water is called a fixed plant. The roots of fixed plant are fixed in the water whereas the roots are loosely situated in floating plant. There are hollow spaces between the tissues of floating plant which enables it to float. Duckweed and water hyacinth are floating plants whereas lotus and water-lily are fixed plants.
