Answer:

There are many misconceptions about people with Down syndrome. These misconceptions are largely a result of two contributing factors: (1) the syndrome itself has changed so fundamentally (for the better) with the dismantling of the inhumane institutions where people with Down syndrome were previously forced to live and (2) the lack of medical and basic scientific research makes it difficult to get accurate, updated information about people with Down syndrome.

The Global Down Syndrome Foundation is dedicated to correcting misconceptions and over time providing funding for research that will better address medical and cognitive issues associated with the condition.

What is the difference between a misconception and reality? give an example.

Misconception : Misconception refers to the wrong idea in which a misunderstanding is made about something, when in reality that thing is not true. This thing remains prevalent as a myth.

For example, suppose that tall people can run faster than short people, then this is not true on real ground. The truth is that short people can run as fast as tall people. The difference between the two things is that tall people have longer legs, so they cover more distance, while short people are able to cover less distance because of short legs. In terms of running, both can run at the same level.

Reality : Reality is the concept that presents things as they are. That which really exists, that which is visible, that which is true is seen. It is beyond imagination.

For example, if the boiling water is hot, then it is a fact because the water that is opened is always hot.
