A mountain is any natural elevation of the earth surface. A plateau is an elevated flat land. It is considerably higher than the surrounding area. It is a flat-topped table land, standing above the surrounding area.

Mountain-

  • These are huge land masses with steep slopes .
  • Mountains cover 25% of the land surface.
  • The Mount Everest is the highest mountain of the world.

Plateaus-

  • These are broad elivated flat land with steep sides and level surface.
  • Plateaus cover 45%of the land surface
  • Tibet is the highest and largest plateau of the world.
