Zucchini squash plants will produce large white blotches on their leavesnaturally as part of the leaf coloration. Small hairs on the surface of the leafmay give the appearance of sand as the light hits them, but it will be obvious that the main part of the whitecolor is the leaf surface.

krishangi2: hi... but when the white patches is due to fungal infection?

There could be three possible reasons of a leaf having white patches on it :

  • Diseased leaf ( fungal ,viral ,bacterial)
  • Damaged leaf (insect, sun , breakage)
  • Natural Variegation

Explanation: The areas of leaf having white patches might be less efficient in terms of photosynthesis as compared to other green leafs. The patchy area have ability to move air and water as these are not related to pigment. The cells producing the pigment for green color of the leaf is affected by any means .There is a possibility that the area of the leaf that is functional for photosynthesis is damaged by either fungus ,bacteria or virus or might be naturally damaged by insect, etc. But the leaf which is normal will perform its function ideally.
