An algebraic expression can be anything from 1 to x, x+5 etc.etc. whereas a Polynomial is that algebraic expression which has its power as a whole number. For eg. x^2,5, 10+x^3 Etc.etc.
Note- √x is not a polynomial because it has a fractional power. Neither 5/9x is a polynomial because x has a negative power.
