what is the difference between a simple parallel circuit and domestic ring main??? What is the reason for this???

The only difference to the best of my knowledge is that a domestic ring circuit is simply a simple parallel circuit fed at both ends. This would possibly reduce the C.S.A. of the cable required as the current is fed to both ends of the circuit.
