A zoo is a place where various types of animals are kept within the enclosures, displayed to the public and may be used for the study and classification for some scientists and zoologists. Animals may also be bred for various purposes. There is a high standard of care and the animals are kept and observed under more natural conditions. The animals (in my view) provide better recreation to the visitors.

Sanctuaries are the tracts of Langwith kraft though lakes where wild animals or fauna can take refuge without being hunted (protected area). Other activities like collection of forest products, harvesting of timber (from trees), private ownership of land, tilling of land, etc. are strictly limited and not allowed. India has a total of 551 Sanctuaries (2011) occupying over 3.6% geographical area.
